Carolina Panthers' 42-10 loss to Saints a bittersweet pill for Christian McCaffrey #Panthers

In their final game of the season, the Panthers looked to end on a good note. But drew Brees and company made that an impossibility in the first half. Starting quarterback Will Grier posted a 1-for-8 outing for four yards and an interception before being replaced by Kyle Allen due to a foot injury. The Saints scored on both sides of the ball including a pick-6, courtesy of Grier, by Saints' linebacker A.J. Klein.

The bright side for Carolina was that running back Christian McCaffrey was only 22 yards from becoming the third player in NFL history to have 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season.

AT THE HALF:

Saints 35

Panthers 3

In the second half, Christian McCaffrey crossed into history with Panthers' only touchdown of the game. During that series, McCaffrey became only the third player in NFL history to have 1,000 yards rushing and receiving in the same season. The touchdown was Carolina's first touchdown of the day. "You know every year I write down little goals and that was one of them," McCaffrey said.

Drew Brees finished the game 19 of 30 for 253 yards and 3-touchdowns as the Saints went on to capture the 42-10 win over the Panthers and keep hopes of playoff bye alive.

FINAL SCORE:

Saints 42

Panthers 10
