On Wednesday, the Charlotte Hornets continued to evaluate players during their 2019 campaign of pre-draft workouts. Wednesday's workouts featured a new group that included University of Virginia guard Ty Jerome.
Jerome has good size fr the combo guard position at 6-5 and was looked extremely fluid from long range. His ability to shoot well from the 3-point range ranked seventh in the Atlantic Coast Conference last season with Jerome hitting 39.9 percent from beyond the arc. (39.2 career) That level of shooting could bolster the long-range game of a Hornet's team that only mustered 35.1 percent collectively from 3-point range.
Jerome also boasts a high basketball I.Q. which contributed to his league leading 202 total assists in the ACC last season. A top ranked defender, Jerome felt confident in his performance for the Hornets.
"It's just fun to come out here and compete with different guys and meet different coaches," Jerome said after Wednesday's workout. "It definitely went well."
After a lengthy workout session Jerome was seen courtside engaged in conversation with team General manager Mitch Kupchak.
"I never knew much about the process but just to be here and talk to different GMs, talking to different people in the front office, different coaches and being in these gyms now is a great opportunity," Jerome said.
