Luke Kuechly and Christian McCaffrey Grab Top Honors (VIDEO)
In a statement on Friday, the Carolina Panthers announced Linebacker Luke Kuechly had been named to the Associated Press All-Pro First Team.
Kuechly's 130 tackles ranks eighth in the NFL this season. His 2018 campaign also included two forced fumbles, one interception, one fumble recovery and 20 tackles for loss (3rd in NFL/most by any Panthers player all-time).
Kuechly's fifth career AP All-Pro First Team honor is part of a long list of accomplishments which include a career 948 tackles, 16 interceptions and eight fumble recoveries. He is now tied with J.J. Watt for the most selections among active players in 2018.
Additionally, Christian McCaffrey garnered his first AP All-Pro Second Team selection after finishing the year with a franchise-best 1,965 scrimmage yards, one passing touchdown, 107 receptions, the most by any running back in NFL history, 1,098 rushing yards, 867 receiving yards. And his 1,000 yards rushing and 100 receptions made McCaffrey only the third player in NFL history to do so.
McCaffrey now occupies the top spot with famed Chicago Bears Running Back Walter Payton as the only two players with 50 yards rushing, receiving and passing in a single game in NFL history.
