Charlotte Hornets silence Trae Young in 116-106 win over Atlanta Hawks


The Charlotte Hornets currently sit at ninth place in the eastern conference.

Wednesday's matchup with the Atlanta Hawks brought the Hornets to within one game of the eighth spot and back to break-even (35-35) with a 22-point outing from LaMelo Ball. Ball also added 11 assists and eight rebounds. P.J. Washington provided a fourth quarter spark dropping in 13 points and finished with 16 points as the team rolled to their third straight win.


As the Hornets picked up momentum, the Hawks lost some snapping their three-game win streak despite the Hawks' Clint Capella's 17 points and 15 rebounds. The Hornets' efforts to doubled-team Trae Young paid off and stopped Young from have a third-straight 40-plus point game. Young dished out 15 assists but was held below double-digit scoring, well below his 25.1 average.


Six Hornets players finished the game in double figures including Montrezl Harrell with 20 points. Terry Rozier and Miles Bridges each contributed 18 points.


The Hornets look to make it four straight when they host the Dallas Mavericks Saturday March 19 at the Spectrum Center in Charlotte, NC at 7:00 p.m. ET.
