Panthers drop to 3-5 after 25-17 loss to Atlanta Falcons

REACTION : Carolina Panthers' players react to 25 - 17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons which saw a dominating performance on one side of the ball from Curtis Samuel and a penalty-riddled performance on the other.

While DJ Moore led all Panthers receivers in reception yardage, it was Curtis Samuel who put the points on the board for Carolina. Samuel had one receiving touchdown as well one rushing touchdown. But in the midst of a third-straight loss, it was far from inspirational for Samuel. "No matter how many touchdowns I score or what I do individually, I always feel like I didn't do enough," Samuel said.

The Panthers converted only 2-10 on 3rd-down (20%). It was one of the toughest games this season for Panthers' quarterback Teddy Bridgewater who was harassed by Atlanta's defensive front all game. Bridgwater was forced to leave the game after an illegal hit by Falcons' defensive end Charles Harris. While Bridgewater was able to return to the game in the fourth quarter after receiving treatment on the sideline, Harris was ejected.

The pressure continued, however, and Carolina failed to score in the fourth quarter and resulted in their final drive being halted when Teddy Bridgewater's pass intended for DJ Moore was intercepted by falcons' cornerback Blidi Wreh-Wilson to seal the victory for Atlanta.

But once again, at center stage, was the Carolina defense. The Panthers defense allowed over 400 yards of offense by the Falcons which proved to be fatal as the Carolina offense missed several opportunities to capitalize. The bright sport for them was a Donte Jackson interception in the second quarter. Panthers' safety Tre Boston reacted to reporters questions following the loss. "The biggest thing is when we are hurting ourselves is the only time people our moving the ball on us," Boston said.

The Panthers travel to face the Kansas City Chiefs Sunday November 8 in search of their fourth win of the season.
