Three reasons the Carolina Panthers will turn things around in week 3
Despite having the NFL’s longest current losing streak at nine games the Carolina Panthers can quickly turn things around especially after they only lost by a combined five points in week one and two.
Slow offensive starts with Baker Mayfield have left Carolina 30th in passing yards and just 28th in total yards around the league, so getting DJ Moore and Robbie Anderson more targets early in the game plus a healthy dose of Christian McCaffrey on the ground and through the air is a must.
The real crucial area of concern has been third down efficiency. New Offensive Coordinator Ben McAdoo’s installation bought into by his quarterback and playmakers but they’ve had poor execution at sustaining drives early in games. Expect that to positively change with better communication, pass and ball protection out of the gate week three with New Orleans.
Defensively the Panthers have not been effective in taking the ball away early or late so far and Coordinator Phil Snow’s crew are 10th in the NFL with 25 pressures and only four sacks. They rank ninth in yards allowed but still no take-aways. Look for much more aggressive tactics at Bank of America Stadium on Sunday.
